Industry min., EliTe Solar discuss expansion plans in Egyptian market
Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel el Wazir discussed on Monday, January 26, 2026, with a visiting delegation of EliTe Solar company, led by CEO Arndt Lutz, the company's current plans for expansion in the Egyptian market.
During the meeting, the company reviewed its strategy to increase production for the local market and boost exports.
The meeting highlighted challenges facing the company, including the need for a larger skilled workforce specialized in solar energy and the domestic market's current reliance on imported solar cells and panels.
Wazir emphasized the importance of deepening local manufacturing by sourcing components and production requirements locally, either through Egyptian suppliers or by the company establishing its own component factories to achieve industrial integration.
Wazir urged the company to seek new export markets to take advantage of the free trade agreements connecting Egypt with various regions.
The Industry Ministry considers the use of new and renewable energy as a preferential condition while assessing investors applying to establish new factories, with a view to alleviating pressure on the national electricity grid, the minister said.
He added that the government is exerting utmost effort to encourage factories to rely on solar energy in their production processes, in order to achieve sustainability of industrial facilities and reducing environmental impacts.
